About Vardelon

Vardelon did not begin with a financial model. It began with an operating observation.

Why Vardelon exists

Working across Central and Eastern European hospitality markets, one structural contradiction kept appearing. The hotel industry had become increasingly international. Many of the businesses supplying it had not.

Cross a border, and the supplier landscape often starts again from zero. Different companies, different distribution, different relationships, frequently the same customers.

Many of those local suppliers are good businesses. Strong customer relationships. Useful market positions. Real technical knowledge. What they often lack is a realistic route to the next stage: management depth, systems, product breadth, capital, or a way into neighbouring markets that does not begin from nothing.

At the same time, a large part of the CEE private-company landscape was created after the economic transitions of the 1990s. Many of those founders are now approaching questions of ownership succession.

Vardelon exists to build a long-term group around that observation.

How we think

We do not believe every fragmented market should be consolidated. Fragmentation frequently exists for good reasons, and local service, language, management and specialist knowledge genuinely matter in this industry.

We also do not believe that acquiring companies and forcing them into a single identity produces better businesses. It often destroys the thing that made the acquisition attractive.

The principle we are building around is simpler: local strength, regional capability. Keep what works close to the customer. Share what genuinely improves when it is shared.

Founder

Balázs Tankó — Founder, Vardelon Group

Balázs has spent much of his career on the operating side of the hospitality supply industry, working directly with hotels, products, suppliers and the practical realities of growing a commercial business across Central and Eastern European markets.

That experience produced the observation from which Vardelon developed: many excellent local businesses serve overlapping hospitality customers across neighbouring markets, yet very few have been built into scaled regional platforms.

Balázs writes regularly about fragmentation, succession and company building in European hospitality infrastructure.

How we are building

Vardelon is at an early stage. We are being deliberate about what we claim.

We are currently focused on developing our understanding of the market, publishing our research, and building relationships with owners, advisers and operators across the region. Where we complete transactions, we will say so.
